1,000 followers needed on Highland Council YouTube!

The Highland Council is inviting people to follow them on YouTube so that the local authority can broadcast live the Highland constituencies and the Highland and Islands Regional results.

Constituency and Regional Returning Officer, Donna Manson explained: "Due to COVID-19 restrictions and the need to provide a safe election we are facing new challenges and opportunities in delivering the Scottish Parliamentary Election count and declaration of results.
“We require three count centres instead of one; in-person access to the count centres is limited and we would like to enable access for anyone who wants to hear and watch the declaration of results."
Election Manager, Linda Johnstone explained: “We could provide a live broadcast via the Highland Council YouTube channel but will need more followers and are asking people to subscribe to the Council's YouTube in order to facilitate this.
“We need 1,000 followers to live stream the declaration of results and are therefore inviting people to follow us (subscribe) at: www.youtube.com/user/TheHighlandCouncil (external link).”
A total of 16 candidates are seeking election on Thursday 6 May 2021 in the three Scottish Parliamentary local constituencies for Highland.
Caithness, Sutherland and Ross constituency has attracted 6 candidates; Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch constituency, 4 candidates; and Inverness and Nairn constituency, 6 candidates.
In the Highland and Islands regional constituencies a total of 15 parties and 2 independent candidates are seeking election to Caithness, Sutherland and Ross; Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch; Inverness and Nairn; Shetland; Orkney; Moray; Argyll and Bute; and Na h-Eileanan an Iar.
