Mobile Testing Units - Scottish Ambulance Service to take over sites
.The Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) will take over the running of Scotland's coronavirus (COVID-19) mobile testing units from the start of September.   Currently operated by HM Armed Forces, the mobile units will pass to SAS, where they will continue to support the ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the management of localised outbreaks.

Travel restrictions lifted
The tourism sector is to benefit from the further lifting of restrictions under Phase 2 of Scotland's route map out of lockdown.   From today, the five mile travel distance limit for leisure will be lifted.

Lifeline Support For Performing Arts Venues - Dedicated £10 million fund announced
A targeted £10 million fund to support Scotland's performing arts venues has been announced by Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop.   Created as part of the Scottish Government's £185m Business Support Fund, the Performing Arts Venues Relief Fund will help venues who cannot yet reopen to their audiences due to the ongoing impact of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Communities offered tourism expertise to support local recovery
A programme to help community development organisations and social enterprises support the recovery of rural Scotland's tourism sector is being launched today.   People working in community development with an interest in tourism, can apply for one of 15 places in the ‘Communities Leading in Tourism' initiative starting in late September and running until December.

Promoting Skills And Employment
A group of industry experts have submitted an action plan to limit unemployment caused by the economic impacts of coronavirus (COVID-19).   The report from a sub-group of the Enterprise and Skills Strategic Board, with representatives from business and Scotland's skills agencies, was commissioned by the Scottish Government in May.

New Section Of Inverness City Road To Open On Monday 6 July
The Highland Council are pleased to confirm that the new section of General Booth Road in Inverness will open to traffic at lunchtime on Monday (6 July 2020).   This new section of General Booth Road forms part on the ongoing Inverness West Link Stage 2 Project and links the Kinmylies area of Inverness with the A82 Trunk Road.

Supporting the Tourism Industry
The Highland Council's Environmental Health team are reminding businesses in the tourism sector, who are busy making arrangements to reopen, to make sure they follow all advice and guidance.   As we move out of lockdown Scotland's tourism and hospitality sector is preparing to fully reopen on 15 July.

Final Phase 2 Measures Confirmed - Face Masks In All Stores from 10 July
Face coverings and 2 metre rule exemptions announced in preparation for Phase 3.   Provisions to allow children to play outdoors with friends, the introduction of exemptions to the 2 metre physical distancing rule, and mandatory use of face coverings in retail settings from Phase 3 are among measures announced by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon today (Thursday, 2 July 2020).

Healthier, Greener Town Centres - Optimising town centres for the aftermath of COVID-19
Diverse views from urban, town, rural and island communities must be heard if town centres are to be revitalised and renewed in the wake of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, according to Communities Secretary Aileen Campbell.   Experts in town planning, public health, transport, and business will take on board views of local communities to build on the progress of the Scottish Government's 2013 Town Centre Action Plan.

Update To Shielding Guidance - Changes to advice for children and young people
New evidence indicates that a large percentage of children and young people may no longer need to shield.   A review by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health with regard to COVID-19 states that the majority of children with conditions including asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, and kidney disease do not need to continue to shield and can, for example, return to school as it reopens.
