Decline of the traditional single-earner couple driven most by mothers of young children and partners of high-earning men. More than three quarters of women aged 25-54 in the UK are in paid work, reaching a record high of 78% in 2017.

Brexit - Our Commitment to the Highland Council Workforce

Final Vote On Social Security (scotland) Bill
A Bill allowing the Scottish Government to make the first social security payments later this year has been passed by Parliament. A unanimous vote means MSPs have passed the Social Security (Scotland) Bill establishing Scotland's first social security system.25/4/2018
Scottish Insolvency Statistics: January To March 2018 (2017-18 Quarter 4)
Accountant in Bankruptcy (AiB) today released official statistics reporting personal and company insolvencies in Scotland for the fourth quarter (January to March 2018) of 2017-18 and provisional estimates for the 2017-18 financial year. Scottish insolvency statistics in 2017-18 Provisional estimates show that in 2017-18 personal insolvencies in Scotland increased by 4.7% to 10,503 from 10,032 in 2016-17.

Farm payments underway
Payments worth more than £300 million to farmers and crofters have begun, Rural Economy Secretary Fergus Ewing has confirmed. In the coming months, eligible farmers and crofters will receive the final balance of their Common Agricultural Policy Pillar 1 entitlement for the 2017 scheme year, having already received up to 90% through the government's loan scheme in early November.24/4/2018
