Review of public toilet charges - Survey

The Highland Council is undertaking a review of how public conveniences are funded and propose to increase the number of sites where there is a charge for use.
The Council is consulting on the amount that will be charged for the use of the public toilets and is seeking views on the level of charges from service users and other stakeholders to assist in the decision making process.
Councillor Alan Henderson, Chair of Community Services Committee said: "I would encourage people to complete the questionnaire, as we are very keen to hear your views on how much you would be willing to pay to use public toilets. Increasing the income from the usage of the toilets could enable the Council to retain more provision."

Blue-green Algae Warning At Loch Watten, Caithness
The Highland Council's Environmental Health team is advising caution as blue-green algae has been found in Loch Watten, Caithness. During periods of prolonged warm weather, the chance of Blue Green algae (cyanobacteria) affecting water courses, particularly ponds, lochs and canals (as well as rivers), increases significantly.

New Law Ensures That Children And Young People Will Be Consulted On Highland Policy Making
The Highland Council welcomes the introduction of new legislation announced today (16 July 2024) by the Scottish Government that incorporates the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
