Scottish Government now talking to UK Government on Wick air routes
The Scottish Government's Transport Secretary has admitted that it is now in talks with the UK Government and with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority about the future of Wick air routes.   Highlands and Islands Labour MSP, David Stewart, is supporting the campaign for a Public Service Obligation (PSO) to protect the Wick Edinburgh and Wick Aberdeen routes following Caithness being left without scheduled air services.

Scottish teenagers to get access to pot of money each, over the next nine years
Thousands of teenagers in Scotland are set to benefit for the first time from money in Child Trust Funds (CTFs) that has been waiting for them since they were young children.   Since 2002, around 6.3 million CTF accounts have been set up across the UK, roughly 4.5 million by parents or guardians and a further 1.8 million set up by HMRC where parents or guardians did not open an account.

Around 23,000 low income households without proper internet access will be helped to get online with the assistance of £15 million of Scottish Government funding.   The investment, part of the Connecting Scotland programme, will prioritise disadvantaged families with children and young people leaving care.

New Benefit For Young People Starting Work - Financial help with the cost of a new job
A new benefit to support 16 to 24 year olds into work if they have been unemployed for six months will open for applications on Monday 17 August.   Job Start Payment is a one off £250 payment to help with the costs of starting a new job.

Consumer And Producer Price Inflation, UK: July 2020
Commenting on today's inflation figures for July, ONS Deputy National Statistician for Economic Statistics Jonathan Athow said: "Inflation has risen, in part, due to the largest monthly pump price increase in nearly a decade, as international oil prices rose from their lows earlier this year.   "The largest upward movement came from clothing where prices fell on the month but by less than a year ago, partly due to different sales patterns throughout the year so far.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (August, 19th) sold 173 store cattle and 137 adult head of breeding cattle.   Bullocks (89) averaged 223.5p and sold to 256.5p per kg for a 310kg Limousin cross from Corslet Farm, Rosemarkie and £1,300 gross for a 655kg Charolais cross from Milton Farm, Aberarder.

Monthly GDP Estimates For June - 17.6% below the level in February
Scotland's GDP increased by 5.7% in June, according to statistics announced today by the Chief Statistician.  The growth in the latest month follows an increase of 2.3% in May, and falls of 19.2% in April and 5.8% in March.

£1 Million Funding For Aberdeen Businesses Affected By Temporary Measures
