Helping New Scots Settle Into Communities - Action set out to support integration.
A package of measures to help ensure refugees and people seeking asylum are supported to make their new communities their home has been unveiled. The New Scots Refugee Integration Strategy: Delivery Plan 2024-2026 - developed by the Scottish Government, Scottish Refugee Council and COSLA - includes commitments to work with employers to help them recruit refugees, to identify ways to improve English language provision and to ensure services are co-ordinated effectively.11/7/2024
GDP Monthly Estimate UK May 2024 - Up 0.4%
Monthly real gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated to have grown by 0.4% in May 2024 after showing no growth in April 2024 (unrevised from our last publication). Real gross domestic product is estimated to have grown by 0.9% in the three months to May 2024 compared with the three months to February 2024, driven by a growth of 1.1% in services output.11/7/2024

Monthly production output was estimated to have risen by 0.2% in May 2024; this follows an unrevised fall of 0.9% in April 2024. The monthly increase in output for May 2024 resulted primarily from a rise of 0.4% in manufacturing, which was supported by smaller contributing increases in water supply and sewerage (0.4%) and mining and quarrying (0.1%); these rises were partially offset by a fall in electricity and gas (1.9%).11/7/2024

North Mill Project An Example Of How To Attract Funding Into Region
A £4.9m project in Caithness to restore one of the last water-powered grain mills in Scotland has been hailed as a great example of how funding can be used to leverage more investment into the region. Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) approved a £250,000 contribution to the project led by the John O'Groats Mill Trust to restore the disused John O'Groats Mill, which it acquired in 2020 along with two adjacent holiday cottages and 9.5 acres of land.10/7/2024

HMRC - Number Of Non-dom Taxpayers Rises 7%, Paying £8.9bn
HMRC has published its latest figures on non-domiciled tax payers, covering 2023. The figures show; 12,900 non-domiciled taxpayers arrived in the UK in the 2023 tax year, up 18% on the previous year, HMRC believes there are now 74,000 non-domiciled taxpayers in the UK, up 7% year-on-year.9/7/2024
