Government Investment In Fusion Energy Boosts British Economy By £1.4 Billion
For every £1 invested in UKAEA, approximately £4 is pumped back into the economy.   The British economy has gained £1.4 billion from the Government's direct investment in fusion energy over the past decade and an average of 4,000 jobs each year.

Expressions Of Interest Invited For New Highland Coastal Communities Fund - Caithness Awarded Caithness - £409,652
The Council is inviting communities to come forward with expressions of interest for projects that, if successful, could receive a share of funding aimed at supporting coastal communities throughout Highland.   The Highland Coastal Communities Fund has been set up by the Council following an allocation of over £3 million from the Scottish Government of Crown Estates revenue funding.

Call For £98 Billion Stimulus Package
Finance Secretary Kate Forbes has called on the UK Government to prioritise public services and economic recovery through a fresh fiscal stimulus package of £98 billion, ahead of the Spending Review on Wednesday.   This support, which is at least 5% of GDP, would be on par with the economic recovery packages and renewed emergency support provided by other nations such as Germany, France and New Zealand.

Report shows 60,000 Scots face poverty as result of UK cuts.   More than 60,000 people in Scotland, including 20,000 children, will be plunged into poverty if the UK Government continues with plans to withdraw benefits brought in to provide support through the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, a new report has shown.

Rhoda Grant MSP raised concerns in Parliament yesterday (Thursday 19TH November 2020) that people in remote and rural Highlands & Islands will have less access to the Covid-19 vaccine when it becomes available.   Speaking to the chamber and addressing the Cabinet Secretary Jeane Freeman, Mrs Grant said: "The cabinet secretary will be aware that many of my constituents cannot access Covid-19 testing simply because of where they live.

Councillors approve over £4.786 million investment in Inverness housing
Members of The Highland Council's City of Inverness Area Committee have today agreed a proposed £4,786,000 investment in council housing for 2021-22.   The one-year Inverness Area Housing Revenue Account (HRA) Capital Programme is part of the Highland wide HRA Capital Plan for 2021-22 which will see over £15m invested in improving the housing stock across the region.

CMA Fines Comparethemarket £17.9m For Competition Law Breach - Perhaps Not So Comparable
The Competition and Markets authority has fined ComparetheMarket £17.9 million after it found that clauses used in the company's contracts with home insurers breached competition law.   An investigation by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has concluded that, between December 2015 and December 2017, the price comparison website ComparetheMarket breached competition law by imposing wide ‘most favoured nation' clauses on providers of home insurance selling through its platform.
