Lungworm Warning from SRUC Vets
Farmers are warned to be on their guard for lungworm this year. SRUC Veterinary Services is reporting that diagnostic submissions to its disease surveillance centres and feedback from farm animal veterinary surgeons across Scotland indicate a high number of recent cases.30/9/2014
2013 social services workforce statistics for Scotland released today
For immediate release The private sector continues to be the biggest social services employer in Scotland with 41 % of workers employed in private sector social services, according to new statistics released by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) today. SRUC Veterinary Services Launches New Test to Help Prevent Long Bone Deformity of Calves
SRUC's Veterinary Services has launched a new test for measuring levels of the essential trace element manganese in cows to help reduce long bone deformity (congenital chondrodystrophy) of their suckled calves. Long bone deformity in calves has been linked to manganese deficiency in the mother during pregnancy.27/9/2014

Solid High-Street Growth Continues
Retail sales volumes continued to grow solidly in the year to September, albeit at a slightly slower pace than in the previous month. The CBI's latest monthly Distributive Trades Survey of 123 respondents also showed that the volume of orders placed on suppliers in the retail sector grew strongly, and broadly in line with expectations.27/9/2014

Total membership of occupational pension schemes with two or more members was estimated to be 27.9 million in 2013, an increase of 300,000 compared with 2012. These estimates exclude participation in other workplace (group personal) pensions.26/9/2014

Passenger numbers at regional airport operator HIAL climbed to their highest ever level in the latest financial year, as the group stepped up its investment for the future. 1 in 5 Scots still paying off finance for items they don't own anymore
