DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (September, 27th) sold 417 rams and females at its annual show and sale sponsored by Norvite.
The judge, Mr Ewan Macdonald, Torgorm, Conon Bridge, awarded the overall show champion and winner of the Mountrich trophy to a Suffolk shearling from Mr J. H. Fowlie, North Essie, Fraserburgh, which realised £1000 to the judge.
The Cheviot champion was awarded by Mr G. Nicolson, Essich Farm, Inverness, to a shearling from Mr J. S. Mackay, Biggins, Wick, which realised £600.
Beltex shearlings (15) averaged £378.67 and sold to £880 gross for the Beltex champion from Braes of Coulmore, North Kessock.
Suffolk shearlings (81) averaged £545.06 and sold to £1,000 gross from North Essie, Fraserburgh.
Texel shearlings (136) averaged £501.76 and sold to £2,000 gross from Clyth Mains, Occumster, Caithness.
Blue Faced Leicester shearlings (48) averaged £483.33 and sold to £1,150 gross from Broomhill Farm, Muir of Ord.
Charollais shearlings (3) averaged £333.33 and sold to £400 gross from Whitebog, Rosemarkie.
Cross shearlings (13) averaged £346.92 and sold to £600 gross from Greenlands Farm, Arabella.
Cheviot rams (31) averaged £238.39 and sold to £850 gross from Belmaduthy Farm, Munlochy.
Suffolk ram lambs (9) averaged £344.44 and sold to £700 gross from Wester Coxton, Elgin.
Texel ram lambs (18) averaged £291.67 and sold to £580 gross from Wester Moy, Muir of Ord.
Zwartbles ram lambs (5) sold to £300 gross from Mariain, Evanton.
Females (50) sold to £1,100 gross for a Texel gimmer from major reduction of the Tri-deug Texels flock, West Watten, Caithness.
