DINGWALL, Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd., (May 12th) sold 71 Pedigree and commercial Luing cattle at their annual spring breeding sale.
Pedigree Bulling Heifers (63) averaged £3,396.67 and sold to 6,200gns (£6,510) for lots 25 & 26 from A l & A C McCall, Culmaily Farm, Golspie selling to Messrs Jardine, Fairgirth Farm, Dalbeattie.
Bulls (8) averaged £5,302.50 and sold to 11,000gns (£11,550) for lot 64 from A l & A C McCall, Culmaily Farm, Golspie selling to Kirkland Farming, Kirkconnel.
“Dingwall & Highland Marts annual show and sale of Pedigree Luing cattle, once again attracted an array of buyers from all over the UK. This years Judging proceeding were in the hands of Mr Brims Thuster Mains, Caithness. A fantastic show of stock was presented in the pre-sale show, possibly the best show of Luings we’ve seen at the centre. The Champion pair and winner of the Lady Anne Memorial cup for the second-year running was awarded to Messrs McCall, Culmaily. This outstanding pair smashed the previous breed record held by the Culmaily team realising 6,200gns to Messrs Jardine Fourgarth, Dalbeattie.
The Culmailly team weren’t finished there as their sole bull entry Culmaily Delgato a Dirnanean Adonis son was snapped up by Kirkland Farming Company for 11,000gns smashing a breed centre record in the process.
Reserve champion pair went to another regular consigner Messrs Renwick, Lochbroom. A pair of outstanding heifers were snapped up by the judge for 4,800gns.
The Sale on a whole was brisk from start to finish recording a centre record for the breed average and plenty of buyers headed home either well short of numbers or empty handed.”
