Highland MSP Concerned By Time It May Take To Address Kessock Bridge Congestion Issue

15th August 2017

Highlands & Islands Regional MSP David Stewart recently asked the Scottish Government by what date the Kessock Bridge Flyover in Inverness will be complete. In his response the Transport Minister Humza Yousaf advised that £109 million of the £315 million Inverness and Highland City Regional Deal will be made available by the Government to deliver the grade separation of the A9 and A82 Longman roundabout and the A9/A96 Inshes to Smithton link road.

David Stewart said " I am content that at last the Government are moving to address this bottleneck in Inverness, but I am concerned by how long it may take. The options assessment process may take 18 months after a design consultant has been appointed, but then we have to have the draft orders and the whole scheme has to be approved under statutory procedures, so any motorist looking for relief much before 2020 will be disappointed.
