Firefighters And Retired Emergency Workers To Help With Coronavirus Problems

Firefighters in UK look set to become ambulance drivers if necessary. In addition Ex-police and ambulance staff urged to return to duty.

Firefighters, retired police officers and former ambulance workers are being drafted in to help tackle the coronavirus crisis.

The moves are to try and stave off the NHS becoming overwhelmed as the pandemic gets worse.

An agreement has been reached between the Fire Brigades Union and employer where firefighters have been authorised to drive ambulances to deliver medicines, and retrieve bodies.
