DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (August 27th) sold 7,475 store lambs and breeding sheep at their annual sale.
Suffolk cross lambs (2,706) averaged �50.06 and sold to �63 gross from Bogallan, North Kessock. Texel cross lambs (3,331) averaged �50.30 and sold to �63.00 gross for a pen from Barrogill Mains, Mey, Thurso. Cross lambs (675) averaged �39.55 and sold to �61.50 gross from Woodside, Strathpeffer. Blackface (487) averaged �28.81 and sold to �38.50 from 19 Holmisdale, Glendale, Isle of Skye. Lleyns (93) averaged �46.62 and sold to �47.50 from 2 Seafield, Portmahomack. Cheviots (80) averaged �42.11 and sold to �55 from 21 Baligill, Strathy. Mules (73) averaged �47.47 and sold to �49.50 from 1 Feorlig, Dunvegan, Isle of Skye.
Breeding sheep (30) sold to �95 for Suffolk ewes from Invercharron, Ardgay.
"There was a tremendous offering of quality Suffolk & Texel cross lambs, selling at extremely satisfactory rates. Lambs of a lesser quality also continued to sell well. Overall sale average was �11.75 up on the corresponding sale of last year with an increased entry."
