DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (September, 23rd) sold 721 store cattle and 45 OTM cattle at their annual show and sale of store cattle including Aberdeen Angus section.
The judge, Mr D. Buchan, Savoch, Peterhead, awarded the continental champion to a 630kg Limousin bullock from Mr D. Morrison, No. 141 Burnside, Kinlochbervie, realising £1060 to the judge. The continental reserve, also from No. 141 Burnside, was a 550kg Limousin bullock realising £1010 to Messrs T. H. Stevenson & Sons, Balmacolly Farm, Bankfoot. In the Aberdeen Angus section, the champion prize went to a 575kg bullock from Messrs R. M. Mackay & Sons, Greenvale Farm, Dunnet, realising £960 to the judge, and the reserve to a 590kg bullock, realising £970 to Messrs Gill, Brucefield.

Aberdeen Angus bullocks (143) averaged 171.9p and sold to 183.7p per kg for a pair of 392kg crosses from Inchindown, Invergordon, and £980 gross for a 605kg cross from Dalchalloch Farm, Calvine.
Aberdeen Angus heifers (97) averaged 169.8p and sold to 220.3p per kg for a pen of 345kg crosses from Corrachie, Avoch, and £920 gross for a 575kg cross from Ardjachie, Tain.
Continental bullocks (290) averaged 176.8p and sold to 217.7p per kg for a pen of 333kg Blonde d'Aquitaines from Upper Bogrow, Edderton, and £1,060 gross for the champion, a 630kg Limousin cross from 141 Burnside.
Continental heifers (190) averaged 171.6p and sold to 197.6p per kg for a pen of 296kg Blonde d'Aquitaines from Upper Bogrow, and £1,030 gross for a 560kg Limousin cross from 141 Burnside.
OTM cows (36) averaged 100.4p and sold to 128.1p per kg for a 605kg Limousin cross from Cambusmore Estate, Dornoch, and £905 gross for a 805kg Belgian Blue cross from Little Kildrummie, Nairn.
OTM clean bullocks and heifers (7) averaged 134p and sold to 143.6p per kg for a 700kg Limousin cross from Kinnahaird Farm, Contin, and £1,005 gross thrice for an 825kg Charolais from Woodside, Strathpeffer, and a 750kg Limousin cross and a 700kg Limousin cross both from Kinnahaird Farm.
"A decent show of mainly strong cattle met a very firm demand."
