DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (October, 7th) sold 409 store cattle and 16 OTM cattle at their special show and sale of store cattle including Aberdeen Angus section.
The judge, Mr B. Grigor, Redfield, North Kessock, awarded the Continental champion to a 495kg Limousin cross bullock from the Firm of J. Munro & Son, Invercharron, Ardgay, realising £1040 to the judge, and the reserve to a 475kg Limousin cross bullock from Mr D. Dalgetty, 21 Cabrich, Kirkhill, realising £890 to Messrs J. A. & A. Mitchell, Newton Newhills. In the Aberdeen Angus section the champion prize went to a 625kg bullock from Messrs D. & M. Tait, Inkstack House, Thurso, realising £990 to Messrs Gill, Brucefield. The Aberdeen Angus reserve, also from Inkstack was a 525kg bullock realising £900 to Messrs A. & A. Bruce, Redhill.

Aberdeen Angus bullocks (85) averaged 178.5p and sold to 224p per kg for a pen of three 250kg crosses from Ardshona, Isle of Eigg, and £990 gross for a 625kg cross from Inkstack House.
Aberdeen Angus heifers (38) averaged 168.9p and sold to 230p per kg for a pen of three 200kg crosses from Ardshona, and £780 gross for a 425kg cross from Balnespick.
Continental bullocks (168) averaged 189.6p and sold to 233.5p per kg for a pair of 272kg Limousin crosses from Croft Grant, Brora, and £1,040 gross for the continental champion, a 495kg Limousin cross from Invercharron.
Continental heifers (118) averaged 177p and sold to 229.1p per kg and £1,070 gross for a pair of 467kg Limousin crosses from Kirksheaf.
OTM cows (15) averaged 101.6p and sold to 120.5p per kg for a 610kg Limousin cross from 192 The Doll, Brora, and £825 gross for an 825kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Kinnahaird, Contin.
OTM clean heifers (1) sold to 125.4p and £715 gross for a 570kg Limousin cross from 192 The Doll.
"All classes continued to sell at recent high rates."
