"Dingwall and Highland Marts hosted their Highland Mule breeding sheep show and sale in accordance with the Highland Mule Breeders Association kindly sponsored by the association and PK Nutrition. The pre-sale show was expertly judged by two individuals. Mr Vic Watson, Balliefurth led the way amongst the gimmers with some really good quality lots forward. After much deliberation our judge awarded the first prize ticket to Ballindalloch Home Farm which went on to sell for £250 to Messrs Munro, Pitkerrie. Over to the ewe lambs where quality was in abundance and gave our judge Mr Gerald Joyce, Balavil Estate an unenviable task of placing them. After much deliberation he awarded the first prize ticket to regular consigners W. G MacPherson, Blackford later being knocked down at £172 to Messrs Robertson, Lower Inchcorsie.
A special mention must go to the generosity of the vendors today with many donating the price of a lamb to the charities Mikeysline, Highland Hospice and Maggie's Highland. A Special mention must go to a pair of mule lambs donated by K. J Matheson, Viewhill which realised £215 per head selling to Messrs Robertson, Inkstack. All in a fantastic total of £2,021 was realised for the aforementioned charities. The sale was quite simply on fire from start to finish, with many centre records for this sale being blown away like a tornado and it was fantastic to see a ring full again and that "buzz" we've all sorely missed."
