FORT WILLIAM, Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd., (September, 11th) sold 445 weaned calves and store cattle and 6 OTM cattle.
Bullocks (266) averaged 180.2p and sold to 225.5p per kg for a pen of 235kg Charolais crosses from Ardtornish Farms, Oban, and £780 gross for a 540kg Charolais cross from Achtuie, Drumnadrochit.
Heifers (179) averaged 181.2p and sold to 215.9p per kg for a pen of 220kg Charolais crosses from Dunlichity Farm, Farr, and £540 gross twice for a 340kg Limousin cross from Balmacaan, Drumnadrochit, and a 345kg Limousin cross from Rychraggan Farm, Drumnadrochit.
"The majority of the cattle were of decent or very good quality, weighing slightly heavier, the regular consigned lots of top end calves were in good demand, however as anticipated the sale average fell by £63.74 on the year."
