Retail Counter Strategies
28th February 2006
Retailers in Caithness and Sutherland are once again set to benefit from an innovative training programme aimed at helping them to make the most of their businesses and consider future development plans.
Following on from the success of the pilot, Strategic Thinking for Retail Businesses, programme course tutor Iain Fraser will deliver the comprehensive eight-day programme, divided into four two-day sessions, which covers everything from marketing to systems, personnel to stock control, market know-how to beating the competition. The sessions take place at the Portland Arms, Lybster, on 13th & 14th March, 20th and 21st March, 3rd & 4th April and 10th & 11th April.
To demonstrate their commitment to supporting the retail sector in the area, Caithness and Sutherland Enterprise (CASE) is heavily subsidising the course to allow it to be offered at a special rate of 100.
Donna Booth, development manager at CASE, said, "There are going to be some very serious challenges ahead for the retail sector in our area and this will hopefully help businesses identify ways in which they can meet these head on. I appreciate it is not always easy for businesses to commit the time needed to undertake this type of development but the feedback I received from the six businesses who invested the time and energy in the pilot programme suggest it was a worthwhile venture."
