Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd - Sale 29 September 2010

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (September, 29th) sold 629 store cattle and yearlings and 24 OTM cattle at its Harbro sponsored show and sale.
The judge, Mr A. Mitchell, Newton, Newhills, awarded the champion to the first prize bullock, a 520kg Limousin bullock from Firm of J. Munro & Son, Invercharron, Ardgay, realising £1000. The reserve from Mr D. Morrison, 141 Burnside, Kinlochbervie, was the first prize heifer, a 605kg Charolais cross heifer realising £1030.

Bullocks (381) averaged 162p and sold to 196.6p per kg for 407kg Charolais crosses from Gorthleck Mains, Gorthleck, and £1,000 gross for the champion, a 520kg Limousin bullock from Invercharron, Ardgay.
Heifers (258) averaged 151.7p and sold to 181.8p per kg for a pair of 275kg Simmental crosses from Isle of Muck, Inverness, and £1,030 gross for the reserve champion, a 605kg Charolais cross from 141 Burnside.
OTM cows (21) averaged 93.1p and sold to 109.9p per kg and £945 gross for an 860kg Belgian Blue cross from Clune Farm, Aldourie.
OTM bullocks and heifers (3) averaged 96.9p and sold to 112.6p per kg and £805 gross for a 715kg Aberdeen Angus cross also from Clune Farm.
"Quality cattle met a satisfactory demand, the overall sale average fell by £74.84 equating to 20p per kilo back on the corresponding sale of last year."
