DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (October, 21st) sold 6,463 breeding ewes and lambs.
Gimmers (665) averaged £83.49 and sold to £135 gross twice for Cheviots from the dispersal of the Aberchalder flock, Invergarry, and for Texel crosses from the Castle of Mey Trust, Longoe, Mey.
Correct ewes (3,369) averaged £62.14 and sold to £140 gross for Cheviots from Aberchalder.
Broken mouth ewes (1,419) averaged £45.92 and sold to £70 for Cheviot Mules from Culmaily Farm, Golspie.
Feeding ewes (822) averaged £48.38 and sold to £98 for Texels from Tri-deug, 13 West Watten, Watten.
Lambs (134) averaged £41.39 and sold to £69 gross for a Texel cross from Greenlands Farm, Arabella.
Rams (24) sold to £160 gross for a Suffolk from Beinn Ghlas, Beauly.
Wedders (36) averaged £45.72 and sold to £68 for a Cheviot from Culkein Tenants, Lairg.
"A lesser show of breeding ewes on offer met a more hesitant demand. Feeding ewes continued to sell at recent rates."
