Aged 16 - 25 - Maybe This Grant Is For You
8th May 2011
Please note that the Duncraig Educational Trust Scheme is open for business and that the deadline date for applications is 10th June. I would be grateful if you could bring this to the attention of any young people that you think might qualify.
In summary, the scheme offers financial assistance up to a maximum of £1k to young Highland people (aged 16 - 25) with an exceptional or unique talent in the following areas.
For Sport
* To allow them to participate in sporting events at national or international level
* To allow them to obtain the specialist sports coaching, training or equipment needed to compete at national or international level
* All applicants must be able to provide independent evidence of their selection by a competitive and recognised process
* And, be competing in a sport which is recognised by sportscotland
For Specialist Courses
* To allow them to attend a specialist course of study in arts/language/heritage/science/environment
* To purchase specialist equipment to allow them follow a specialist course of study in arts/language and heritage, science and environment
* Funding is not available, however, for most mainstream college and university courses
· As competition is intense, priority is given to young people who have been selected to attend specialist elite institutions which primarily deliver vocational and practical training rather than institutions which offer mainstream academic studies. For example, funding may be available for courses provided by specialist elite music or drama institutions but would not be available to study these subjects at university.
· All courses must be accredited and where places awarded by a competitive and recognised selection process including audition where appropriate.
