DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts, (September, 1st) sold 3,928 store and breeding sheep incorporating annual sale of HISHA accredited sheep and first sale on behalf of Lewis Livestock Producers.
Store lambs (825) averaged £41.30 and sold to £70 gross for Beltex from Upperton, Glenurquhart.
Ewe lambs (414) averaged £74.85 and sold to £155 gross for HISHA accredited Halfbreds from Millquoy, Stenness, Orkney.
Gimmers (294) averaged £157.94 and sold to £200 gross for Suffolk crosses from the dispersal of the Ashton flock from Messrs J A Munro & Sons, Ashton Farm, Inverness.
Ewes (207) sold to £200 gross for a Suffolk crosses from Ashton Farm.
Lewis Livestock Producers lambs (1,994) averaged £41.50 and sold to £67.50 gross for Crosses from 31 Arnol, Isle of Lewis.
Lewis Livestock Producers feeding sheep (191) sold to £70 gross for a Cheviot ram from 26 Upper Shader, Point, Isle of Lewis.
"The breeding sheep section saw gimmers and strong, well bred ewe lambs meet an excellent demand. All classes of store lambs continued to sell well."

Bullocks (125) averaged 299.6p per kg and sold to 361.3p per kg for a pen of 191kg Limousin crosses from 387 Elphin, Lairg and £2,000 gross for a 650kg British Blue cross from Easter Kirk, Wick.
