Energy Saving Campaign In Caithness
12th September 2011
Local campaign aims to help reduce impact of rising energy bills
Would you like to spend less on your home fuel bills? If the answer is yes, help is on its way as the local Energy Saving Scotland advice centre is launching a campaign with Latheron, Lybster & Clyth Community Development Company (LLCCDC) this month to help local householders save energy and money.
The direct mail campaign is asking householders in Watten, Thrumster and Tannach to complete a short home energy check to get a free personalised home energy report which could help them save around £250 a year on their energy costs.
Alternatively they can call 0800 512 012 for free, impartial energy advice to help save them money. They can also find out if they qualify for free insulation and get help with energy rates, benefits and tax credits.
The advice centre, funded by the Scottish Government, is free to call from landlines and offers a one stop shop to help people save energy and money.
Peter Rickard, Energy Saving Scotland advice centre manager, said:"We would like to help as many householders and property owners as possible at this critical time. All they need to do is complete the home energy check form and return it in the stamped address envelope to LLCCDC."
Anne Sutherland, Community Powerdown Officer for LLCCDC added: "This campaign will help us to establish the carbon footprint for the area and assist people in how to reduce our energy usage and save money.
"If anyone has any queries or would like help in completing the form please telephone me on 01593 721 283 or call in and see me at Watten Village Hall on Tuesday 27 September from 11.30am to 3.30pm or from 6pm to 8pm, or at Thrumster Village Hall on Wednesday 28 September from 9.30am to 1pm or 6pm to 8pm."
