DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (September 24th) sold 383 rams and females at its annual show and sale sponsored by Norvite.
The overall show champion and winner of the Mountrich trophy was a Suffolk shearling from Mr J. H. Fowlie, North Essie, Strichen, which realised £850 to Messrs Conon Brae Farms, Torgorm, Conon Bridge. The Cheviot champion was a two shear from Mr G. Johnstone, Hallcroft, Brora, which realised £750 to Mr W. A. Mackay, South Balkeith, Tain.
Blue Faced Leicester shearlings (57) averaged £614.74 and sold to £2,400 from Broadleys, Dunning.
Charollais shearlings (24) averaged £316.46 and sold to £520 from Millquoy, Orkney.
Beltex shearlings (21) averaged £269.52 and sold to £550 from Mariain, Evanton.
Suffolk shearlings (61) averaged £487.21 and sold to £850 from North Essie.
Texel shearlings (103) averaged £488.83 and sold to £1,050 from The Cloy, Fortrose.
Cheviot rams (38) averaged £319.08 and sold to £750 from Hallcroft, Brora.
Cross shearlings (19) averaged £325.26 and sold to £450 from Clyth Mains, Occumster.
Texel ram lambs (13) averaged £297.69 and sold to £400 from Barnyards, Beauly.
Suffolk ram lambs (13) averaged £230 and sold to £550 from 1 Bunacaimbe, Arisaig.
Blue Faced Leicester ram lambs (2) sold to £200 from Tombreckachie, Glenlivet.
Zwartbles ram lambs (2) averaged £265 and sold to £270 from Chapelpark, Kingussie.
