DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (October 23rd) sold 273 store cattle, and 95 OTM cattle.

Bullocks (153) averaged 290.6p per kg and sold to 372.0p per kg for a pen of 250kg Limousin crosses from Keil Farm, Ardgour and £1,620 gross for a 650kg Beef Shorthorn cross from Attadale Estate.

Heifers (110) averaged 258.4p per kg and sold to 342.9p per kg for a pair of Aberdeen Angus crosses from Dunlichity Farm, Farr and £1,720 gross for a 570kg Limousin from Glenside, Glenurquhart.

Young bulls (10) sold to £1,080 gross for a 405kg Aberdeen Angus cross from 5 Skelpick, Bettyhill.

"A mixed offering of store cattle saw things a tad dearer this week, especially for shapely continental calves. The heaver end of the store cattle also took a rise, in line with the increased prime cattle price this week."

OTM prime & feeding cattle (95) sold to 269.6p per kg for a 675kg Aberdeen Angus Cross Bullock from Broomhill Farm, Fortrose and £2,000 gross for a 1130kg Limousin Bull from Tighnahinch, Alcaig.

“Plenty of lean feeding cows were present this week which led to the meat being a shade sharper. On a whole a competitive trade was realsied an money more could easily have been sold.”
