He joins from AtkinsRealis, where he was market director and delivery lead for its nuclear decommissioning and waste services business, and officially takes up the post today (18 November 2024), He succeeds John Grierson who has served as interim MD since May.

NRS CEO Rob Fletcher said, "I am very pleased that Dave Wilson has agreed to join the team at Dounreay. Dave has deep experience in decommissioning. He joined the industry as a graduate at Sellafield and has worked as site director at Chapelcross and Trawsfynydd. His last post at Magnox was chief operations officer, Scotland and Wales. Dave has experience across such a range of research and generating decommissioning challenges and also brings new perspectives and experiences from Atkins.

John Grierson has done a fantastic job at Dounreay and I want to thank him for his work over the last few months.

Dave Wilson said, "I am excited to be joining the Dounreay team and contributing to delivering a nationally important mission. I look forward to becoming a part of a community and my first priority will be to meet as many people as possible, including stakeholders and community leaders, and get up to speed on the critical programmes we will be delivering.

We have some complex challenges but also great opportunities to deploy innovative solutions to move forward with delivering the mission. It's an exciting time as we launch our new 10-year strategy and really begin to see the benefits of working together as NRS.

John Grierson said, "I am very happy to have had the opportunity to have been part of the Dounreay team and work with such excellent people. I am proud of everything we have achieved together and I know David will continue to develop Dounreay as a great place to work delivering against our nationally important mission.

There is so much I have learned that I will be taking back to other NRS sites and I hope I have shared learning from the other sites that can be used at Dounreay and helped build some networks across the delivery businesses.
