Dingwall And Highland Marts Ltd - Sale 11 December 2024

13th December 2024

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (December 11th) had a catalogued entry of 155 M.V. Accredited Pedigree Females at its annual Highland Ladies show and sale.

The Highland air set a frosty aroma around the castle on the night of the annual Highland Ladies sale, but in the ring an inferno raged as a blistering trade greeted old and new vendors. No record prices were achieved this year however a strong steady trade carried throughout all breed sections.

Once again a massive thanks goes to the pre-sale sponsors who generously supported the sale once again. Judging proceedings this year lay in the hands of renown stockman, Jonnie Campbell, Bardnaclaven, Thurso. Presented in front of him was the best show for quality and numbers this sale has even see.

Champion this year on his final outing for Messrs. Innes, Strathbogie, Dunscroft was shown by able stockman Michael Leggat. This Strathbogie superstar gimmer stood out from the off, showing tremendous character, scale and carcass. Carrying a single this Auldhouseburn Fancy Pants daughter was knocked down to Mr. David Moir of the Cairness flock for 2,600 GNS.

Reserve was found in the Beltex gimmer class. Step forward first-time consignors Messrs. Miller Lurg, headed by stockman Finn Christie. A Vickys Gladiator daughter caught the eye of many an onlooker. A gimmer with an outstanding carcass and as sharp as a knife was knocked down to online bidder Kevin Crawford, Alford for 1,600 GNS.

Not to be outshone was regular consignor Mr. Jimmy Douglas, Cairness. A powerhouse of a gimmer carrying a single to Cairness Five Star was purchased on the phone by Messrs. G. Trope & L.E. Needham, Shaggart for 3,000 GNS.
