Energy Firm On The Crest Of A Wave

13th March 2012

EnergyHunt, the North of Scotland's premier renewable energy engineering company, is celebrating after achieving a crucial Det Norske Veritas (DNV) industry accreditation
The company, based in Caithness, is the first renewable energy business in the North of Scotland to have achieved the award from DNV (, one of the world's leading certification bodies, following an exhaustive audit of its Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental business and management systems.

It is now certificated to UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) standards. UKAS is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services.

Speaking after confirmation of the award, EnergyHunt's owner and director Richard Hunt said:"This is a massive milestone for us - achieving this certification of our management systems demonstrates our capability and the professional level of service we provide to a range of clients in the onshore and offshore renewables industry. It also allows us to further raise our level of operation in what is a fast-paced and highly demanding business environment'

What makes it particularly special is that we undertook this program of development and successfully achieved the required standard at our first attempt, using only internal business knowledge and skills."

Energy Minister Fergus Ewing said:"Scotland is recognised for its expertise and innovation in its energy and engineering sectors, and the development of new skills and knowledge plays an important role in shaping our future economic success.
"EnergyHunt is one of the many ambitious and dynamic Scottish businesses that are capitalising on the enormous opportunities of our growing renewable energy industry. I congratulate EnergyHunt on this new accreditation."

Sir Anthony Cleaver, Chairman of Caithness & North Sutherland Regeneration Partnership, welcomed the news of the company's success: "EnergyHunt are an excellent example of the type of small, ambitious company we hope will help our area's economy as it transitions away from dependence upon Dounreay-related work. This milestone accreditation will further boost the company's ability to compete in the renewables market, and adds to the already important work they undertake with key marine renewables clients such as Scottish Power Renewables, with whom EnergyHunt has helped CNSRP's Advisory Board establish good working links."
