DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts, (March, 13th) sold 2,668 sheep of all classes.
Lambs (1,632) averaged £46.85 and sold to £84 gross for Texel crosses from North Calder, Halkirk.
Ewes (831) averaged £43.07 and sold to £90 gross on four occasions for Cheviots from Muirton Mains, Urray, Texel crosses from Kinchyle Farm, Scaniport, Suffolk crosses from Lairgandour, Daviot, and Suffolks from Whitebog, Rosemarkie.
In-lamb gimmers and ewes (123) averaged £78.66 and sold to £160 for a Texel from Veltigar, Orkney.
Rams and feeding sheep (82) sold to £77 gross for Cheviot rams from Rhilochan, Rogart.
Strong lambs again met an increased demand in keeping with the prime market. Heavy quality ewes maintained the keen rates of the last sale whilst mixed lots of lighter and leaner lambs and ewes were more difficult to cash. Breeding sheep met a very selective enquiry.
