Sharon's Story
Sharon's in her mid 30's. Her kids are at High School. She's been working part-time in a local chemist. The kids are getting more independent and Sharon has a bit more time, she wanted to see what different options could be available to her.
She made an appointment with her local Careers Scotland Adviser and during her visit with the Adviser they discussed the career planning process. They considered her skills, interests, personal qualities, values and types of jobs and how these could relate to local opportunities.
Sharon was unsure about applying for jobs, creating a CV and attending interviews. The Careers Scotland Adviser helped Sharon use her new 'self awareness' to develop a CV and prepare for an interview situation. Following her visit to Careers Scotland, Sharon decided to undertake training to update her computing/IT skills. This along with her experience in the Chemist helped Sharon gain full-time employment at her local GP practice.
