Weather – returning to work

5th January 2014

Scots urged to remain vigilant on commute.

As the return to work and school begins, a multi-agency response team remains vigilant to help keep the vast majority of Scots on the move, said Transport Minister Keith Brown.

The Met Office has issued a Yellow (Be Aware) warning for wind valid from 0300 through to 2355 on Monday to raise awareness and to link in to on-going concerns in relation to coastal flooding.

The multi-agency response team, based in Traffic Scotland’s control centre, will be activated early on Monday morning as the return to work and school continues across much of Scotland.

Transport Minister Keith Brown said:"As Scots head back to work and school with Met Office forecasts for wind and rain across Scotland, I encourage drivers and passengers to make informed travel choices.

“Wet and windy conditions are common at this time of year, so it makes sense to check the latest travel advice before setting off and allow extra time for journeys where necessary.

“Our multi agency response team will keep a close watch on the situation and will receive regular updates on the weather and transport situation. As always we will be doing everything we can to keep Scotland moving."
