DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (February, 26th) sold 40 registered Cheviot females and Blackface females at its Harbro sponsored show and sale.
The Cheviot judge Mr A. Cowens, Philiphaugh, Selkirk, awarded his main register champion to the first prize in lamb gimmer, a Broomhillbank Longblow daughter, carrying a pair to Allanshaws Maverick from Messrs G. Cormack & Sons, Wester Dunnet, Thurso, realising £320 to Mr M. Williams, Anglesey, with the reserve award going to the first prize ewe lamb, a Reaster Nobleman daughter from Messrs J. & J. Farquhar, Smiddyquoy, Watten, realising £400 to Messrs Crowe, Mid Clyth.
In the hill register show, Mr Cowens awarded his champion to the first prize in lamb gimmer from Mr W. M. Sutherland, Brackside, Reay, sired by Hethpool Lance Corporal and carrying a single to Achentoul Playboy, she realised £300 to the judge. The reserve award went to the first prize in lamb ewe also from Brackside. She was a Achentoul Italian daughter, in lamb to North House Lumberjack with a pair.
Mr B. Renwick, Blackhouse, Yarrow judged the Blackface section and awarded his champion to the first prize in lamb ewe from Glenrinnes Farms, a 1 crop by a Tinnis sire carrying a pair to a Blackcraig, she realised £550 to Mr C. Macintyre, Lower Nuide, Kingussie. The reserve champion went to the first prize in lamb gimmer, by a Dyke sire, also from Glenrinnes, carrying a pair to a homebred ram.

Hill register Cheviots – four gimmers, £250; eleven ewes, £213.64; three ewe lambs, £183.33.
Blackface – two gimmers, £300; two ewes, £675.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (April 1st) sold 8,772 sheep of all classes, including the annual spring sale of ewe lambs with an overall sale averaged of £122.09. Ewe Lambs (4,806) sold to £270 gross for a pen of Blue Texels from Broombank, Culloden Moor.
