Opportunity to join High Life Highland Board of Directors

6th May 2014

The Highland Council is seeking to recruit Directors to the Board of High Life Highland (HLH), to provide strategic direction and governance to the company and expert advice and support to its management team in developing and promoting opportunities in culture, learning, sport, leisure, health and wellbeing.

High Life Highland (HLH) is a charity registered in Scotland and a company, limited by guarantee, wholly owned by the Council. Its Memorandum and Articles of Association requires independent Board directors to step down after completing their service, so these vacancies have arisen due to the routine retirement of serving Directors.

The main business of High Life Highland is the delivery of a Service Delivery Contract for the Council across a wide variety of areas including adult learning, archives, the arts, leisure facilities and libraries, museums, outdoor education, sport and youth work.

Chief Executive of High Life Highland, Ian Murray said: “We would welcome applications from anyone who has a good track record in business or community management and an interest and knowledge of the cultural, learning or leisure sector in the Highlands. Due to the wide scope of our work, we are looking for someone to bring their skills to help contribute to the development of our company. I would ask anyone who is interested to get in touch with me for an informal chat.”

The position will be unpaid but reasonable expenses will be available. Anyone wishing to apply should contact Jane Maclennan on 01463 702132 or at jane.maclennan[AT]highland.gov.uk . Ian Murray can be contacted on 01463 663824.

The closing date for submissions is 5pm on Tuesday 3 June and interviews will take place on 11 June. The appointment will be confirmed at The Highland Council meeting of 26 June 2014.
