Commenting, SHE Transmission's North Projects Director Dave Mckay said:"The Caithness to Moray project is a major step in delivering a modern electricity network for the north of Scotland, capable of meeting the needs of our growing renewable energy sector.

"Subject to regulatory approval, the proposed High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) system could be in place by 2018. There is a huge opportunity for local people and local businesses to get involved. We want to make sure we maximise that opportunity - so our work delivers lasting benefits to the local area and the best possible value for consumers across the country."

SSe have released a video on Youtube outlining the project and describing Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission's plans to install a subsea HVDC cable between Caithness and Moray to transmit the electricity generated from renewable energy developments onto the national grid.
