Most business sectors are eligible to apply for an Opportunity Fund loan. Loans can be for a range of uses, such as: start-up or business acquisition, business expansion, upgrading premises, purchasing equipment, developing new products, or branching into new markets.

Loans of between £5,000 and £100,000 considered
Up to £50,000 unsecured and £50,000+ considered on secured basis
Affordable interest rates, currently 5% - 8%
No early repayment fees
Flexible repayment terms up to 7 years
Our evaluation of applications is risk aware but not risk averse, meaning businesses that have been turned away from other funding streams may still be able to access Highland Opportunity loans.

Unsecured loans are offered up to £50,000 where there is a strong business plan. Loans over £50,000 and up to £250,000 will only be considered where there is sound security over a business asset and there is a compelling case for economic development in the Highlands.

Prior to considering a loan application, Highland Opportunity will arrange a visit from our Business Adviser to go over your business plan in detail. The report of the Business Advisor will be considered by the Board of Highland Opportunity as part of the application process.
