Recent Lamb Sales At Dingwall & Highland Marts

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (August 30th) sold 8,257 store
lambs and four wedders at their annual district sale.

Ewe lambs (1,974) averaged �24.88 and sold to �38 gross for Cheviots from No. 9 Lochussie, Dingwall.

Cross lambs (245) averaged �25.22 and sold to �35.50 gross from No. 220
Lednabirichen, Dornoch.

Cheviot lambs (5,169) averaged �26.97 and sold to �34.50 gross from
Bardachan, Dornoch.

Suffolk cross lambs (330) averaged �33.75 and sold to �37.20 gross from
Inkstack, Barrock.

Beltex cross lambs (103) averaged �31.15 and sold to �34.50 gross from
No. 46 Blairmore, Rogart.

Texel cross lambs (428) averaged �29.72 and sold to �33.80 gross from
No. 1 Feorlig, Dunvegan.

Blackface lambs (eight) averaged �20.63 and sold to �25 gross from No.
20 Strathnaver, Bettyhill.

"All classes of lambs sold beyond sellers expectations resulting in an
overall average of �27.92 back �3.57 on the corresponding sale last year
with top lambs showing the smallest decrease."

store lambs at their annual sale.

Cheviot ewe lambs (1684) averaged �24.92 and sold to �38 gross from 236
Tulloch, Bonar Bridge. Cheviot wedder lambs (4964) averaged �26.98 and
sold to �37 gross from Uiginish Farm, Dunvegan, Isle of Skye. Other
breeds (593) sold to �35.50 gross for Suffolk cross lambs from
Cuilaneilan, Kinlochewe.

"A mixed show of lambs on offer met a steady demand with the sale
average showing a decrease of �5.26 on the corresponding sale of last
year with stronger well bred lambs more keenly sought after."
