DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highlands Marts Ltd, (September, 8th) sold 5,239 ewe lambs and gimmers at the Highland Mule Breeders Association annual show and sale.
The gimmer judge, Mr J. C. MacIver, Wester Coltfield, Forres, awarded the Challenge cup for best pen of gimmers to a pen of 20 mules from Nether Comisty, Forgue, which realised £120 to the judge. Mr A. D. Forbes, Little Kildrummie, Nairn, who judged the ewe lambs, awarded the Secretary's cup to a pen from Blackford Farm, Croy, which realised £90 to the judge.
Highland Mule gimmers (1,502) averaged £86.16 (+£24.92 on corresponding sale last year) and sold to £125 from Lochletter Farm, Drumnadrochit.
Cheviot Mule gimmers (14) sold to £98 from Dell Farm, Farr.
Highland Mule ewe lambs (3.630) averaged £55.11 (+£17.71 on the year) and sold to £90 from Blackford Farm.
Cheviot Mule ewe lambs (74) sold to £72 from Flichity Mains, Farr.
