FORT WILLIAM, Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd., (September, 13th) sold 526 weaned calves and store cattle, and 6 OTM cattle at their annual show and sale.
The judge, Mr A. J. Ingram, East Comalegy, Drumblade, awarded the champion to a 320kg Limousin bullock from Messrs M. & C. Cameron, Strone Farm, Banavie, realising £760, the reserve went to Messrs A. Smith & Co., Aberchalder, Invergarry for a 397kg Charolais heifer, realising £650.
Bullocks (315) averaged 180.1p and sold to 255.5p per kg for a pen of 229kg Charolais crosses from Moy Farm, Banavie and £760 gross for a 320kg Limousin from Strone Farm.
Heifers (209) averaged 167.9p and sold to 225.3p per kg for a 162kg Charolais cross from Moy Farm and £725 gross for a 474kg Limousin from Aberchalder.
OTM cattle (6) averaged 93.5p per kg and sold to 103p per kg and £845 gross for a 820kg Saler cross from Caolas, Onich, Fort William.
