Monday 1 December is a significant date in the local calendar, as it marks the reopening of the Thurso Town Hall and Carnegie Library. Magnificently restored, it now houses Caithness Horizons, an outstanding new museum and community facility for Scotland's most northerly county.
Caithness Horizons recently held a stakeholder workshop to bring together all its funders, partners and local stakeholders. Paul Cariss, Caithness Horizons Chairman, welcomed everyone to the event and thanked them for their support so far and gave a presentation outlining the projects progress to-date.
The building enabling work for Caithness Horizons has begun, with the contract for the first phase of work being awarded by Highland Council to local firm MM Miller (Wick) Ltd. Caithness Horizons has held its first annual general meeting and is delighted to announce that directors Paul Cariss, the company's chairman, and Tina Wrighton of UKAEA have both been co-opted back onto the board.
