Leader welcomes delay in closure of Inverness Police Control Room
The Leader of the Council has welcomed the announcement by Police Scotland of their plan to delay the closure of the Inverness Control Room and transfer of command and control to Dundee until June 2017. Leader of The Highland Council, Cllr Margaret Davidson said: "The HMICS (Her Majesty's Inspector of Constabularies Scotland) Report set the bar high for standards of assurance and we need to have a guarantee that all these standards have been met before any changes can take place.26/8/2016

Week commencing 15th August 2016 Energy and Business Services: As part of the programme to connect renewable power in Shetland to the National Grid, SSE Power Distribution Ltd this week carried out consultation events in Wick and Staxigoe relating to the company's latest plans for a switching station to be built on land between Wick John O' Groats Airport and Noss Head. The station would provide a connection by connecting to the High Voltage DC system that is currently being installed between Caithness and Moray.17/8/2016

Week commencing 8th August 2016 Energy and Business Services: Atlantis Resources Ltd has completed a deal with Belgian company DEME, who will be providing support (via its subsidiary Geosea) to the installation of the foundation structures for Phase 1a of the MeyGen project. DEME held an event in Caithness last November in association with CNSRP partner Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), at which DEME Group representatives outlined the company's experience and capabilities in offshore logistics.10/8/2016
Graduates Start At Dounreay
Ten new graduates started their careers at Dounreay this week as the company's graduate development programme entered its second year. Applications to the scheme soared after the success of last year's first ever graduate intake, with more than 200 applications received.6/8/2016
Highest Hazard Materials Disposed Of At Dounreay
The destruction of one of the highest hazards remaining in the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) estate has been completed at Dounreay. Around 68 tonnes of highly radioactive liquid metal coolant was removed from the Dounreay Fast Reactor (DFR) and safely destroyed over a ten year period.6/8/2016

Week Commencing 1st August 2016 Energy and Business Services: Moray Offshore Renewables Ltd held consultation events in both Helmsdale and Wick this week. The company, which received consent to develop the eastern part of its offshore wind field in the Moray Firth in 2014, is now consulting on plans to develop the western section of its area.31/7/2016

Week Commencing 25 July 2016 Energy and Business Services: · Recruitment firm ERSG has been appointed by SSE to help recruit contract workers for its Beatrice Offshore Windfarm development in the Moray Firth, just off the Caithness coast. As previously reported here, Wick Harbour is to be the operations and maintenance base for the project, and the CNSRP Delivery Group hopes to work with SSE and its supply chain to help deliver economic benefits from the Beatrice project.15/7/2016

Week Commencing 11th July 2016 Enabling activities: · The "Ready, Steady, Work" programme developed by CNSRP partners DSRL and North Highland College began this week. The programme takes young people from 4th to 6th year and introduces them to a range of workshops and company visits designed to enhance their ability to move on from school into employment, training or further education.2/7/2016

Week Commencing 27th June 2016 Energy & Business Services: · A deal to supply and install the cabling for the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm project has been won by Siem, who will work for Tier 1 supplier Seaway Heavy Lifting. Last year one of Siem's vessels laid the subsea cabling for the MeyGen project in the Inner Sound of the Pentland Firth.18/6/2016

Week commencing 13th June 2016 Energy & Business Services: · The CNSRP Delivery Group met this week, and we took the opportunity to have a round table discussion on the likely actions needed to support the delivery of local economic benefit from the £2.6 Bn Beatrice Offshore Windfarm project. One of the strengths of the Partnership is the ability to bring partners such as HIE, Skills development Scotland, the NDA, Dounreay, Highland Council, North Highland College and Caithness Chamber of Commerce together with Wick Harbour Authority to ensure that a coordinated approach is taken to this process.10/6/2016
