Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd - Sale Lochmaddy 22 April 2019
LOCHMADDY, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (April, 22nd) sold 45 store cattle and 11 OTM cattle.   Bullocks (28) averaged 204.7p and sold to 246.9p per kg for a 405kg Limousin cross from 9 Clachan Sands, Lochmaddy and £1,320 gross for an 815kg Charolais cross from 50 Balgarvca, Eochar.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (April, 23rd) sold 22 prime cattle.   Prime bullocks (8) averaged 226.1p (+10.1p) and sold to 240.0p per kg and £1,408.35 gross.

The High Street celebrates sales success - but online grows twice as fast

Scots Living Abroad Face Uncertainty Over Their Return
Scots who currently live in another EU country, but who hope to come back to live in Scotland one day, will find it much harder to bring family members with them when they return, if and when the UK leaves the EU.   That is the prospect facing thousands of Scots as a consequence of the UK Government's proposals for UK citizens in the EU post Brexit, Scottish Government Minister for Europe, Migration and International Development Ben Macpherson said today.

Scotland's Chief Statistician has released Social Tenants in Scotland 2017, the third annual statistical compendium publication on social tenants and social rented housing in Scotland, covering topic areas such as stock, household characteristics, housing flows, and rents and income levels.  The publication is based on an analysis of a range of existing data sources, and includes trend data for earlier years and comparisons with other housing tenures and with other parts of the UK where possible.

Education Maintenance Allowances 2017-18
Scotland's Chief Statistician today published statistics on Education Maintenance Allowances (EMA) in the academic year 2017-18.  EMA provides financial support for young people aged 16 to 19 years from low-income households to overcome financial barriers to participate in school or college courses, or in an activity agreement.

Tackling Skills Shortages
A pilot project to reduce Scotland's skills gap by formally recognising and accrediting the skills and qualifications of people from overseas is being expanded.   The initiative, which is being delivered by Glasgow Caledonian University, will support employers by helping migrants transfer training gained in other countries into UK-recognised qualifications across key sectors such as social care, construction, engineering, IT and hospitality.

Extension Of Free Tuition For EU Students
EU citizens who study a Further or Higher education course in Scotland in the 2020/21 academic year will be charged the same tuition fees and will get the same fee support as Scottish students for the entirety of their courses.   This will mean that the vast majority of EU students will be guaranteed free tuition.
