MSPs To Review Value Of Regional Selective Assistance
The Economy, Energy and Fair Work Committee is focusing its pre-budget 2020-21 scrutiny on Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) and other financial support for businesses provided by Scotland's enterprise agencies.  It is our expectation that this will feed into Scottish Government budget plans and policy development.

Consultation On The Draft National Whistleblowing Standards - Closes 28 June 2019
In 2020 the Scottish Government plans to introduce the new role of the Independent National Whistleblowing Officer (INWO).   The role and functions of the INWO will be undertaken by the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman.

The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) sets monetary policy to meet the 2% inflation target, and in a way that helps to sustain growth and employment.  At its meeting ending on 19 June 2019, the MPC voted unanimously to maintain Bank Rate at 0.75%.

Temporary road closures for Highland Cross event
Road users are advised that on Saturday 22 June 2019 part of the C1112 Glen Affric Road will be temporarily closed to vehicles from 11am to 5pm during the Highland Cross 2019 event.   The area affected is between the road's junction with the C1110 Cannich - Fasnakle - Kerrow Wood Road and its end at the north side of the road bridge over the Abhainn Gleann nam Fiadh.

FCA Publishes Final Report In Relation To RBS GRG
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has today published the final report on its investigation in to Royal Bank of Scotland's (RBS) treatment of small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) customers transferred to its Global Restructuring Group (GRG).  This follows the update provided in July 2018 on the investigation.

£51 Million For Active Travel Infrastructure In 2019
During a statement provided to the Scottish Parliament, Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity Michael Matheson announced that up to £51 million is available for walking and cycling infrastructure in 2019/2020.   The record funding has been allocated through the Scottish Government's active travel budget and will be match funded through applications to the Places for Everyone infrastructure programme, which is administered on behalf of Transport Scotland by Sustrans Scotland.

FCA Publishes Final Rules On Buy Now Pay Later Products
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) today confirmed it will introduce new rules in the Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) market, saving consumers around £40-60 million a year.  The changes, which include banning firms from charging backdated interest on money that has been repaid by the consumer during the BNPL offer period, will be in force by 12 November 2019.

Businesses urged to sign up to Trades Services Framework events
People working in Highland trades businesses are being urged by The Highland Council to attend a supplier briefing roadshow event near them coming soon across the region if they wish to tender for future Council contracts.   The Council has created a new Trades Services Framework for repair, maintenance and minor works to maintain and improve the Council estate and to help deliver the Council's property maintenance programme for domestic and non-domestic properties.
