DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (September, 19th) sold 4,545 store lambs and sheep.  Lambs (4,545) sold to £62 gross for Blackfaces from Old Croft House, Brae of Balnabeen.

Preparing for 4G at 800 MHz
John Thurso has recently been contacted by at800 who will shortly be carrying out specific activities in the constituency to ensure TV viewers, including the elderly and vulnerable, can continue to watch Freeview as new 4G mobile services at 800 MHz are activated.   The company will also send postcards to some constituents to inform them that new 4G masts operating at 800 MHz may soon be activated and that there is a very small possibility these new mobile signals may disrupt Freeview.

Almost 800 delegates have already signed up to attend the NDA estate's 2014 event for suppliers in November - but there is still room for several hundred more visitors.   The exhibition hall meanwhile is approaching full capacity, providing delegates with the opportunity to meet with 260 companies from across the supply chain.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (September, 18th) sold 3,269 store lambs and ewes.  Lambs (2,817) averaged £52.39 and sold to £110 gross for a Texel tup lamb from Teanluick, Beauly.

Invitation to Tender for Framework Contractors
North Highland College UHI wish to invite tenders from suitably qualified contractors to be placed on a preferred contractor's framework for planned and reactive maintenance at their sites in Caithness, Sutherland and Ross-shire.  The College will require separate trade tenders for each of the trades listed below and suppliers can tender for more than one trade - but separately - if they have the requisite skills.

Accommodation Services framework agreement - supplier events
The Highland Council wishes to establish a framework agreement for Accommodation Services in the Highlands with suitably competent providers.   The framework agreement would commence on 1 December 2014 until 30 November 2017 with an option to extend for a further 12 month period.

Third Inverness community sets up cold call control zone
Dalneigh and Columba Community Council have become the latest community to say "NO" to unwanted doorstep traders by establishing a Cold Call Control Zone.   Residents in St Mungo Road, St Margaret's Road, St John's Avenue, St Mary's Avenue, St Andrew Drive and St Ninian Drive will be covered by the initiative which is facilitated by The Highland Council’s Trading Standards and supported by Police Scotland.

House Price Index, July 2014
UK house prices increased by 11.7% in the year to July 2014, up from 10.2% in the year to June 2014.   House price annual inflation was 12.0% in England, 7.4% in Wales, 7.6% in Scotland and 4.5% in Northern Ireland.

First Direct once again tops the table for customer satisfaction however many of the big high street banks are still stuck near the bottom as a new Which? analysis reveals the best and worst financial companies.   We asked more than 20,000 members of the public, in four independent surveys, how happy they are with their current account, savings, mortgage or credit card provider and analysed the results to find the best and worst banking providers.

Investors Offload Pound As Scotland Vote Uncertainty Grows
An increasing number of investors are reducing their holdings of sterling as Scotland prepares for the independence vote next Thursday, according to one of the world's largest independent financial advisory organisations.   deVere Group reports that its Foreign Exchange division has recorded a "significant upturn" in the number of its clients who are readjusting their portfolio's currency balance, with this trend intensifying since Monday.

Consumer Price Inflation, August 2014
The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) grew by 1.5% in the year to August 2014, down from 1.6% in July.   Falls in the prices of motor fuels and food & non-alcoholic drinks provided the largest downward contributions to the change in the rate.

Police to conduct high visibility patrols on Friday as part of ongoing Campaign Against Violence
Police Scotland will be conducting increased high visibility officer patrols across the Highlands and Islands on Friday evening (19 September 2014) as part of Operation Respect and the ongoing national Campaign Against Violence.   The Highlands and Islands are one of the safest places in the UK, with low crime and high detection rates as well as high levels of public confidence in the police.
