Caithness and Sutherland Regeneration Partnership - Update

Week Commencing 19th November 2012 Energy: A reminder that this Wednesday (28th November) there will be an opportunity for members of the public to catch up with current activities in the wave and tidal sector when the Pentland Firth & Orkney Waters Information Day is held in the Pentland Hotel, Thurso.  The event will be open from 2pm til 8pm, with a number of stands from bodies such as Marine Scotland, The Crown Estate, National Grid, Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission Ltd and wave/ tidal developer companies, as well as HIE, Highland Council, Skills development Scotland, North Highland College and Caithness Chamber of Commerce.

Update Week commencing 5th November 2012 Energy: Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) this week announced the signing of a Partnership Agreement with the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI).  SSE is a key player in the development of the energy sector in the north, both as a developer and generator of renewable energy.  

Northern Police Join In Winter Safety Campaign

Northern Constabulary take part in ACPOS led campaign to keep us moving this winter.   Northern Constabulary will be working closely with Scottish Government, road operating companies and other transport providers to ensure that the Highlands and Islands keeps moving throughout the winter.  

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service

Members of the new Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) have been announced by Community Safety Minister Roseanna Cunningham.   They will work closely with the Chair Pat Watters and Chief Officer Alasdair Hay to oversee, support and challenge the SFRS and ensure smooth transition to the new single service, which will go live on April 1, 2013.  

Police Crackdown On Selling Alcohol To Under 18s

Three Shetland businesses to be reported to the Procurator Fiscal for allegedly selling alcohol to minors.   Northern Constabulary officers have reported three businesses in Shetland to the Procurator Fiscal for allegedly selling alcohol to underagers.  

Winter Advice For Walkers and Motorists From The Police

Advice for pedestrians and motorists ahead of the winter months from Northern Constabulary.   The darker nights will soon be upon us and we are already seeing a notable reduction in daylight hours.  

Caithness and North Sutherland Regeneration Partnership Update

Week Commencing 24th September 2012 Energy: Moray Offshore Renewables Ltd, the consortium of EDP Renewables and Repsol, will be holding public meetings in the north next week to update on its submission to Scottish Government to construct offshore wind projects at three fields (Telford, Stevenson and MacColl) in the outer Moray Firth, just off the coast of Caithness.  The events will be at Helmsdale Community Centre on Monday 1st October from 12-8pm and at Mackay's Hotel, Wick, on Tuesday 2nd October from 12-8pm.  

UHI FREE Business Seminars

UHI's Management School will be running a series of 5 free business seminars in October and November.  All workshops will run from 12.30 - 1.30pm and anyone interested can participate by video conference at The North Highland College UHI in Thurso.  

Caithness District Partnership Meeting

The new Caithness District Partnership will meet in full for the second time on Friday 28 September, as part of the new arrangements under the Planning for Integration (P4i) partnership between the NHS and The Highland Council.   Partners will consider a report from the NHS steering group, who are recommending a Stakeholder Engagement Plan.  

Beware Of Bank Card Skimming

Member of the public reports card skimming device at Co-op at Keppoch Road, Culloden.   Police received reports of a skimming machine attached to an ATM at the Co-op store in Keppoch Road, Culloden yesterday (18 September 2012).
