Over Half (56%) of Employers Are Unaware of Pension Wise or the April Reforms
With less than a week to go before reforms are introduced allowing savers greater flexibility in how they access their pension fund at retirement, over half (56%) of small and medium sized employers admit they have never heard of them or the government's new Pension Wise guidance service, according to new research* from workplace pensions provider NOW: Pensions.   Of the 400 SMEs surveyed, only a quarter (27%) say they are aware of Pension Wise with a slightly higher percentage (39%) claiming they are aware of the April reforms.

New debt law comes into force
Bankruptcy and Debt Advice (Scotland) Act enacted to help financially vulnerable families New legislation comes into force today (1st April 2015) which sees Scotland introduce one of the most modern systems of debt advice and debt management in the world.   The Bankruptcy and Debt Advice (Scotland) Act introduces a suite of measures, including the Minimal Asset Process, which offers debt relief quickly and at less than half the cost of an application for bankruptcy under the previous equivalent scheme for those on low incomes.

Operation Monarda update - campaign against bogus callers and associated doorstep crime
As part of Operation Monarda, Police Scotland's campaign against Bogus Callers and associated Doorstep Crime, officers from Police Scotland, VOSA, SEPA and Highland Council Trading Standards, carried out a high visibility operations in both Inverness and Brora last week.   Operation Monarda aims to raise awareness of bogus callers, rogue traders and associated doorstep crime by providing advice and information on how householders can protect themselves from such crimes.
