Lidl Stores in Caithness Getting Ready To Bake
Competition in the supermarket bakery sector is set to take off in Caithness as fast-growing discount chain Lidl gets ready to roll out in-store bakeries. The German retailer, which has over 580 stores in the UK, has already completed many bakeries across the UK.19/10/2012

Lynsey was awarded the Caithness Chamber of Commerce George Bruce Young Entrepreneur of the year 2012 for her business Lark & Lily Designs. It is a very big achievement for the newly married designer as the business is only 15 months old.19/10/2012

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service
Members of the new Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) have been announced by Community Safety Minister Roseanna Cunningham. They will work closely with the Chair Pat Watters and Chief Officer Alasdair Hay to oversee, support and challenge the SFRS and ensure smooth transition to the new single service, which will go live on April 1, 2013.18/10/2012

Major Flood Works Start In Inverness On 29th October
The first stage of the £24.75 million River Ness Flood Alleviation Scheme, Inverness, which will protect approximately 800 homes and 200 businesses in the city centre, starts on Monday 29 October. Work will involve the diversion of gas, water, electricity and telecommunication services required to accommodate the first phase of the construction of folld defences on both sides of the river between the Ness Bridge and Friars Bridge.18/10/2012

£1 million investment to encourage and support dynamic growth entrepreneurs Finance Secretary John Swinney will today (Friday, October 19) announce the creation of a £1million Scottish entrepreneurs fund called EDGE - Encouraging Dynamic Growth Entrepreneurs - which will help accelerate innovative business ideas. The fund will invest up to £50,000 in entrepreneurial businesses to stimulate economic growth.18/10/2012

Student Accommodation Will Begin Huge Inverness Regeneration
Inverness is set to see the first major regeneration in the City Centre for a number of years following the granting of planning permission by The Highland Council for an 8-storey-high building for student accommodation. Almost £2 million to keep Inverness moving during Kessock Bridge works
Transport Scotland has announced a £1.8 million transport package to help ease congestion around the Kessock Bridge resurfacing works next year. A range of roads and public transport measures will be put in place between now and February, including extra seating capacity on trains and buses, additional car parking at Dingwall and Beauly stations, a dedicated bus lane and the re-opening of Conon Bridge Station.15/10/2012
