New Highland Council Political Group - Highland Alliance

Two Caithness Councillors have joined the new Highland alliance political group.
Councillors Andrew Jarvie and Mathew Reiss have joined the new group.
Highland Alliance comprises co-leaders Councillors Duncan Macpherson from Inverness and Easter Ross' Maxine Smith who will work alongside Caithness members Andrew Jarvie and Matthew Reiss and Sutherland's Jim McGillivray.
The group sees a former SNP group leader in Maxine Smith join and a former Conservative group leader Andrew Jarvie on the same side.
The new group members were on their feet for the first time at the meeting of Highland council today Thursday 26 October 2023.

Success Of First Highland-wide Virtual Jobs Fair
The first Highland-wide virtual jobs fair held last month has proved to be a hit with participants and businesses. In November, The Highland Council launched a public statutory consultation to seek views on the proposed introduction of a Visitor Levy scheme across the Highlands. The Council has announced an extension to this consultation period, which will now give businesses, visitors and communities until 31 March 2025, an additional seven weeks, to take part and have their say.5/12/2024
