Highland Winter Road Conditions Report - Monday 20 January 2025

Highland Road Conditions Report for Monday 20 January 2025 are as follows:

Inverness 06:07 - Grey frost on Tomatin area side roads otherwise roads are dry or salty damp. A gritter is heading out to treat Tomatin side roads.

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh 06:50 - No winter action required. Positive Road surface temperatures. No overnight issues reported.

Caithness 07:59 - Road surface temperatures are just below freezing on most routes. All primary and secondary routes are being treated as necessary. No other known issues to report.

Badenoch and Strathspey 08:07 - Negative road surface temperatures throughout the area with high existing salt levels able to cope with them. No winter action needed and no known overnight issues.

Nairn 08:07 - Negative road surface temperatures throughout the area with high existing salt levels able to cope with them. No winter action needed and no known overnight issues.

East Ross-shire 08:08 - No action taken. It’s a cold dry start to the morning and there is sufficient residual salt ton roads. No overnight issues reported.

Sutherland 08:10 – Road surface temperatures are below zero in places and routes are being treated as necessary but mainly dry and damp roads, No known overnight issues to report

Skye and Raasay 08:23 - No winter action required. There are positive road surface temperatures throughout area. No issues reported overnight.

Public invited to Justice Service open day in Inverness

The Highland Council's Justice Service team in Inverness will be hosting an open day on Wednesday 28 January.   This is a chance for members of the public to come along and find out more about community sentences in Scotland and particularly in Inverness and surrounding areas.

Ticket sales now open on reinstated Wick-Aberdeen flights

Following the announcement on 23 December 2025 that Air Charter Scotland have been appointed to take over the Wick-Aberdeen air service, tickets for the service are now available for sale.   Tickets can be bought directly from the operator at https://aircharterscotland.com/ , and will also be available through online vendors such as Google Flights and Skyscanner.
