200,000 Scots called to action to tackle the nations litter problem!
Keep Scotland Beautiful
Keep Scotland Beautiful, one of Scotland's leading environmental charities, is calling out to 200,000 Scots to do their bit to clean up their favourite part of Scotland during a two month attack on the nations litter.
Scotland's biggest annual litter clean up, known as National Spring Clean, is Keep Scotland Beautiful's flagship volunteer campaign and is supported by Zero Waste Scotland. It will take place between April 1 and May 31. On-line registration is already open, so sign up now at www.keepscotlandbeautiful.org/springclean.
National Spring Clean enables businesses, schools, community groups and individuals to unite together in a common cause and make a concerted effort to clean up the whole of Scotland as part of a bigger, coordinated campaign. Keep Scotland Beautiful is calling out to all of you who hate litter and would like to do something positive to improve your corner of the community - we need you to do your bit and help make this the biggest and best clean up event ever.
Keep Scotland Beautiful Chief Executive, Derek Robertson, said: "Without the commitment of the volunteers who take part in National Spring Clean every year, Scotland would definitely be a dirtier place.
"Last year almost 100,000 people took part but, to really make a significant impact on Scotland's litter, we need every Scottish person out there to take a pride in their favourite part of Scotland and register for National Spring Clean 2012. Together, in a united effort, we can make a difference."
To help groups get started, Keep Scotland Beautiful provides group organisers with free clean up kits, and they can also request additional assistance from their local council.

Council calls for meaningful engagement from Home Office Over 300 Asylum Seekers Being Sent to Inverness
The Highland Council continues to call for meaningful engagement from the Home Office over its plans to temporarily accommodate up to 300 adult male asylum seekers at Cameron Barracks, Inverness.
