New way to report alleged breaches of planning control

The Highland Council’s Planning and Development Service is pleased to announce that members of the public now have the ability to report alleged breaches of planning control online as well as over the telephone.
Customers from across the Highlands can use the on-line form to report any potential enforcement cases they may come across. Planning Enforcement is a complex part of the planning system and can affect many members of the Highland Community and so the Service has also produced the Highland Enforcement Charter, which provides customers with guidance on how the enforcement process works.
Chairman of the Council’s Planning, Environment and Development Committee, Councillor Thomas Prag welcomed the new service. He said: “Some people may find it much more convenient to use an on-line form anytime they like rather than making a telephone call during daytime working hours so this new service gives much more flexibility for people to report any alleged breaches. The Highland Council’s Planning and Development service is committed to ensuring that all developments have the appropriate permissions so I would encourage Highland communities to bring what they feel may be any unauthorised developments to our attention.”
Any customers who are not able to access the online form can contact the Service Centre on 01349 886608 Monday–Friday from 8am-6pm or 9am-12 noon on Saturdays where a member of staff can log a report on behalf of customers.

The first Highland-wide virtual jobs fair held last month has proved to be a hit with participants and businesses. Whilst not a statutory function, the Council is the main provider of public conveniences located throughout Highland, operating 74 sites.
